Long-term results of the surgical treatment of type III acromioclavicular dislocations: an update of a previous report.

The purpose of this study was to review the long-term outcomes of a previously reported prospective series of 46 type III acromioclavicular dislocations. These were treated surgically with temporary fixation of the acromioclavicular joint with wires, repair of the acromioclavicular ligaments, and overlapped suture of the deltoid and trapezius muscles. Of the 46 patients, one had died, four could not be traced, and three declined to return for follow-up, leaving 38 patients in the study.

Because health professionals and dietetics practitioners often work with parents to increase children's fruit and vegetable intake, assessing their opinions about the effectiveness of parenting practices is an important step in understanding how to promote fruit and vegetable intake among preschool-aged children.

Postoperative changes of carpal canal pressure in carpal tunnel syndrome: a prospective study with follow-up of 1 year.

Carpal canal pressures were measured in 103 patients with idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome, before and after open release, with a postoperative follow-up of 1 year. Twenty-five normal subjects were used as controls. Pressures were measured with the wrists in three positions: neutral, full passive flexion and full passive extension.

Preoperative factors influencing the range of movement after total knee arthroplasty for severe osteoarthritis.

We report a prospective study, using multivariate analysis, of the factors which influence the range of movement after total knee arthroplasty in 74 patients with 83 arthroplasties at a mean follow-up of 23.6 months (12 to 41). All the patients had a diagnosis of osteoarthritis, a severely disabled knee with a Knee Society system score of less than 60, varus deformity, no previous surgery to the knee, identical prostheses implanted with a similar surgical technique, and no postoperative complications which may have affected the range of movement.
