Rhodococcus sp. RHA1 (RHA1) is a potent polychlorinated biphenyl-degrading soil actinomycete that catabolizes a wide range of compounds and represents a genus of considerable industrial interest. RHA1 has one of the largest bacterial genomes sequenced to date, comprising 9,702,737 bp (67% G+C) arranged in a linear chromosome and three linear plasmids.

Partial least square analysis of lysozyme near-infrared spectra.

Proteins possess strong absorption features in the combination range (5000-4000 cm(-1)) of the near infrared (NIR) spectrum. These features can be used for quantitative analysis. Partial least squares (PLS) regression was used to analyze NIR spectra of lysozyme with the leave-one-out, full cross-validation method.

Characterization of glucocorticoid receptors in animal lymphoblastic disease: correlation with response to single-agent glucocorticoid treatment.

The clinical significance of initial DEAE chromatography of glucocorticoid binders in lymphoblastic disease was evaluated in an animal model. Domestic cats and dogs with lymphoblastic disease were treated with prednisone, 2 mg/kg/day, for 14 days, and the outcome of therapy was correlated with DEAE chromatograms of glucocorticoid binders, using 3H-triamcinolone as ligand. Six of 30 animals had a single-peak low-salt binder species, similar to that seen in a subset of human leukemia, and none of these responded.
