Objective: Anti-tumour necrosis factor (TNF) agents are associated with increased infection risk among elderly IBD patients, but little is known about non anti-TNF biologics in this cohort. We examined the safety and effectiveness of ustekinumab in elderly Crohn's patients.
Methods: This retrospective multi-centre cohort study included Crohn's patients ≥60-years old who commenced ustekinumab.
Double knockouts of the Msx1 and Msx2 genes in the mouse result in severe cardiac outflow tract malformations similar to those frequently found in newborn infants. Despite the known role of the Msx genes in cardiac formation little is known of the regulatory systems (ligand receptor, signal transduction and protein-DNA interactions) that regulate the tissue-specific expression of the Msx genes in mammals during the formation of the outflow tract. In the present study we have used a combination of multi-species comparative genomics, mouse transgenic analysis and in-situ hybridisation to predict and validate the existence of a remote ultra-conserved enhancer that supports the expression of the Msx1 gene in migrating mouse cardiac neural crest and the outflow tract primordia.

However, the optimal sequence of treatments and the optimal chemotherapeutic regimen have not been defined. Modulation of fluorouracil (FU) by leucovorin (LV) has yielded a highly significant difference in response rate from that of FU monotherapy, as suggested by an overview of randomized trials in patients with advanced colorectal cancer.

Mass Screening seems to be the only promising way to discover breast cancer patients at an early and more curable stage and a positive method improving the cost-effectiveness and compliance of mass screening is the use of prognostic factors, to identify the high-risk group, who alone then would be screened. In a 200 women sample, who had undergone screening for breast cancer with clinical examination and bilateral mammography, we calculated the Composite Risk Factors of six Characteristics (C6RF), which are family history for breast cancer, pregnancy history, menstrual history, history of cystic breast disease, history of regular breast clinical or self-examination and presence or not of breast lump, using an expert system in IBM-compatible personal computer. In these cases the average C6RF was 0.
