Assessment of discordance between radiologists and emergency physicians of RADIOgraphs among discharged patients in an emergency department: the RADIO-ED study.

Background: The possibility to perform standard X-rays is mandatory for all French Emergency Department (ED). Initial interpretation is under the prescriber emergency physician-who continually works under extreme conditions, but a radiologist needs to describe a report as soon as possible. We decided to assess the rate of discordance between emergency physicians and radiologists among discharged patients.

Does rheumatoid synovitis activity vary during the day? Evaluation with color doppler sonography.

Background: Clinical symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) improve in the course of the day, as can synovitis activity, reported via doppler ultrasound (US). The aim of the study was to establish whether the Color Doppler (CD) scores of synovitis in RA changes throughout the day.

Methods: In total, 27 patients with active RA, including 14 patients receiving corticosteroids were studied.

The tibialis posterior tendon.

The tibialis posterior tendon is the largest and anteriormost tendon in the medial ankle. It produces plantar flexion and supination of the ankle and stabilizes the plantar vault. Sonographic assessment of this tendon is done with high-frequency, linear-array transducers; an optimal examination requires transverse retromalleolar, longitudinal retromalleolar, and distal longitudinal scans, as well as dynamic studies.

[Imaging features of pubalgia].

Pubalgia is a generic term used to describe groin pain due to a multitude of different etiologies such as skeletal (microtraumatic pubic symphysis arthropathy), muscular (adductor or rectus abdominis disorders), or abdominal wall (inguinal hernia) disorders. Diagnosis relies mainly on MRI for musculoskeletal disorders and ultrasound for abdominal wall disorders.

[Sonography of muscles].

Sonography constitutes a method of choice in the evaluation of muscular structures. Traumatic lesions represent the majority of muscular injuries. A good anatomical knowledge of the weakness sites, as well as knowledge of traumatic signs and symptoms is essential in order to deliver a precise report to the referring physician.
