Emergency ureteroscopic management of ureteral stones: why not?

Objectives: To describe a single-center experience in the emergency ureteroscopic management of ureteral stones.

Methods: We retrospectively considered the data from 144 patients (mean age 49.6 years, range 23 to 82) who had had obstructive ureteral stones and had undergone emergency ureteroscopy with stone retrieval.

Simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation: five-year results from a single center.

We report the 5-year results of our simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation (SPKT) program, started on May 2, 2000. Forty-two SPKT were performed on 42 type I diabetic patients with chronic renal failure. The procedure was performed with enteric diversion and vascular anastomosis to the iliac vessels.

[Pelvic lipomatosis].

Pelvian lipomatosis is a proliferative process of fatty tissue in the perivesical and perirectal pelvian space. The etiology is unknown and some authors consider that in reality is a localized form of obesity. Diagnosis can be incidental, or be part of a sequence within a study for unspecific symptoms such as pelvian complains or perineal problems.
