Case report: Immediate revascularization for symptomatic hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm after orthotopic liver transplantation? A case series and literature review.

Introduction: Hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm (HAPA), a rare vascular complication that can develop after liver transplantation, is associated with a high mortality rate and graft loss. To salvage the liver graft, immediate revascularization, either through surgical or endovascular intervention, is required. However, currently there is no consensus on the optimal strategy.

Analysis of TNF-α and interleukin-6 in seroma of patients undergoing mastectomy with or without flap fixation: is there a predictive value for seroma formation and its sequelae?

Background: Seroma formation is a common complication after mastectomy. Flap fixation has the potential to prevent seroma formation, but identifying patients that are at risk of developing seroma, remains challenging. The aim of this study was to assess the association between pro-inflammatory cytokines in seroma fluid one day after surgery and seroma formation and it sequelae.

A 51 years old woman came to the emergency room with acute onset abdominal hematomas. She complained of vague abdominal pain without preceding trauma. Two large hematomas were present, one in the infra-umbilical region and one in the right flank, corresponding to Cullen's and Grey Turner's sign, respectively.

A harmonized European training syllabus for thoracic surgery: report from the ESTS-ERS task force.

Training of European thoracic surgeons is subject to huge variations in terms of length of training, content of training and operative experience during training. Harmonization of training outcomes has been approached by creating the European Board of Thoracic Surgery, which has been accredited by the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS); however, a clear description of the content of training is lacking. Building on their recognized experience with curriculum building, task forces of the European Respiratory Society and the European Society of Thoracic Surgery agreed on a joint task force on training in thoracic surgery.
