Designing Shape Morphing Behavior through Local Programming of Mechanical Metamaterials.

Shape morphing implicates that a specific condition leads to a morphing reaction. The material thus transforms from one shape to another in a predefined manner. In this paper, not only the target shape but rather the evolution of the material's shape as a function of the applied strain is programmed.

Mental health integration in primary health services after the earthquake in Nepal: a mixed-methods program evaluation.

Background: In the aftermath of the devastating 2015 earthquakes in Nepal, three non-governmental organizations collaborated to develop a program responding to the immediate mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) needs in three severely affected districts: Dhading, Gorkha, and Sindhuli. The program was implemented between April 2015 and February 2017 and aimed to (i) strengthen health worker capacity to provide integrated MHPSS services; and (ii) increase access to mental health services. This paper describes the program's implementation and the results of a pragmatic evaluation of the program's overall reach, effectiveness, and lessons learned.

Recovering from the Ebola crisis: 'Social Reconnection Groups' in a rural Liberian community.

In 2014/2015, International Medical Corps (IMC) operated two Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs) in Liberia and three in Sierra Leone when the Ebola virus disease epidemic killed over 11,000 people across Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. As Ebola cases declined in Liberia, IMC Psychosocial teams transitioned to working in communities highly affected by the epidemic. This article describes IMC's experience with developing and implementing a community-based mental health and psychosocial group intervention in a rural, severely affected Liberian town - Mawah - where 46 out of approximately 800 community members were infected, 39 of whom died.

Fluoroscopic placement of jejunal feeding tubes.

Over a two-and-one-half year period, 50 children underwent placements of jejunal tubes through a nasal route (NJ, n = 47) or through an existing gastrostomy site (GJ, n = 119). There were four attempted placements (98% success rate). The NJ tubes remained in place an average of 13 days, and the GJ tubes remained in place an average of 37 days.
