Electronic consultations (e-consults) are a mode of referral increasingly used to provide access to endocrine specialty care without the need for a patient in-person visit. This scoping review aimed to describe the models being used to deliver endocrine care via e-consult, what is known about outcomes of endocrine e-consult, and research gaps. The review was completed using an established methodological framework.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: While cannabis use is prevalent among people with HIV (PWH), factors associated with higher-risk use require further study. We examined factors associated with indicators risk for cannabis use disorder (CUD) among PWH who used cannabis.
Methods: Participants included adult (≥18 years old) PWH from 3 HIV primary care clinics in Kaiser Permanente Northern California who reported past three-month cannabis use through the computerized Tobacco, Alcohol, Prescription medication, and other Substance use (TAPS) screening.
Background: Patients newly initiated on opioids (OP), benzodiazepines (BZD), and antipsychotics (AP) during hospitalization are often prescribed these on discharge. Implications of this practice on outcomes remains unexplored.
Objective: To explore the prevalence and risk factors of new initiation of select OP, BZD and AP among patients requiring in-patient stays.
Background: Obesity is associated with metabolic syndrome and fat accumulation in various organs such as the liver and the kidneys. Our goal was to assess, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Dual-Echo phase sequencing, the association between liver and kidney fat deposition and their relation to obesity.
Methods: We analyzed MRI scans of individuals who were referred to the Chaim Sheba Medical Center between December 2017 and May 2020 to perform a study for any indication.
