Article Synopsis
  • Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) shows high survival rates (90% overall survival) in adolescents and adults with severe inborn errors of immunity (IEI), as assessed in a study of 82 patients.
  • The study found that pre-transplant immune dysregulation (measured by the IDDA v2.1 score) and the haematopoietic cell transplantation comorbidity index (HCT-CI) score significantly affected transplant outcomes, including overall survival and event-free survival.
  • Notably, a portion of patients with a high IDDA v2.1 score and low HCT-CI score indicates that existing risk assessments may underestimate the risks of alloHSCT, highlighting

Objectives: Deauville scores (DS) from PET/CT imaging are increasingly being used to direct response-adjusted treatment strategies in lymphoma, including large B cell lymphomas (LBCL). We aimed to investigate the outcome of allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) in LBCL and the role played by pre-transplant disease status, as determined by DS.

Methods: We performed a retrospective, observational study of adults treated with a T-cell depleted alloHSCT for de novo DLBCL or high-grade transformation.

Article Synopsis
  • Posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) is a rare but serious complication in solid organ transplant patients, and chemotherapy can lead to significant side effects.
  • The TIDaL trial tested the safety and effectiveness of ibrutinib, alongside a risk-based treatment strategy, for newly diagnosed patients with CD20+ B-cell PTLD.
  • While ibrutinib did not meet the effectiveness threshold anticipated, the study highlighted the potential to reduce exposure to harsher chemotherapy treatments for patients in the low-risk category, indicating a direction for future research.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a prevalent chronic disease, poses significant treatment challenges, including side effects and high costs of conventional therapies. This heightens interest in natural, over-the-counter (OTC) anti-inflammatory supplements as potential adjunctive treatments. Given their roles in mitigating inflammation and oxidative stress, key factors in RA pathogenesis, these supplements could offer valuable therapeutic adjunctive.
