Urban runoff effluents transport multiple pollutants collected from urban surfaces. which ultimately reach freshwater ecosystems. We here collect the existing scientific evidence on the urban runoff impacts on aquatic organisms and ecosystem functions, assessed the potential toxicity of the most common pollutants present in urban runoff, and characterized the ecotoxicological risk for freshwaters.

Anchored in biologically-mediated processes, the response of stream ecosystem functioning to environmental conditions exhibits intricate patterns, reflecting both natural dynamics and human-induced changes. Our study aimed at determining the natural and anthropogenic drivers influencing multiple stream ecosystems processes (nutrient uptake, biomass accrual, decomposition, and ecosystem metabolism) at a regional scale.

Objective: This study aims to implement and scale-up a SARS-CoV-2 screening method using pooled saliva samples to control the virus in critical areas and assess its effectiveness in detecting asymptomatic infections.
Methods: Between August 2020 and February 2022, our laboratory received a total of 928,357 samples.
Polypeptides have shown an excellent potential in nanomedicine thanks to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, high functionality, and responsiveness to several stimuli. Polypeptides exhibit high propensity to organize at the supramolecular level; hence, they have been extensively considered as building blocks in the layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly. The LbL technique is a highly versatile methodology, which involves the sequential assembly of building blocks, mainly driven by electrostatic interactions, onto planar or colloidal templates to fabricate sophisticated multilayer nanoarchitectures.

Human Dental Pulp Stem Cells (hDPSCs) are excellent candidates to be used in tissue engineering and regenerative therapies of the CNS due to their neural differentiation ability and lack of tumorigenicity. Accordingly, they have been successfully used in animal models of spinal cord injury, stroke and peripheral neuropathies.
