Adaptive foraging behaviours in the Horn of Africa during Toba supereruption.

Although modern humans left Africa multiple times over 100,000 years ago, those broadly ancestral to non-Africans dispersed less than 100,000 years ago. Most models hold that these events occurred through green corridors created during humid periods because arid intervals constrained population movements. Here we report an archaeological site-Shinfa-Metema 1, in the lowlands of northwest Ethiopia, with Youngest Toba Tuff cryptotephra dated to around 74,000 years ago-that provides early and rare evidence of intensive riverine-based foraging aided by the likely adoption of the bow and arrow.

Preliminary evidence that brief exposure to vaccination-related internet memes may influence intentions to vaccinate against COVID-19.

Despite global efforts to rapidly distribute COVID-19 vaccines, early estimates suggested that 29-35% of the population were hesitant/unwilling to receive them. Countering such vaccine hesitancy is thus an important priority. Across two sets of online studies (total  = 1584) conducted in the UK before (August-October 2020) and immediately after the first effective vaccine was publicly announced (November 10-19, 2020), brief exposure (<1 min) to vaccination memes boosted the potentially life-saving intention to vaccinate against COVID-19.

Oral yeast colonization in patients with eating disorders: commensal acquisition or due to purgative habits?

Oral problems are common in patients diagnosed with Eating Disorders (ED) and still require better elucidation. We aimed to analyze the prevalence of oral Candida spp in individuals with ED. The sample of the study was comprised of 30 women with purgative habits and 15 without purgative habits.

[Successful regional teledermatological and teledermatoscopic triage networking between general practitioners and dermatologists].

Background: There is an increasing need by general practitioners (GPs) for consultations regarding skin diseases or skin lesions. Teledermatological and teledermoscopic diagnoses are possible with good results.

Objectives: This descriptive study analyzed whether the increasing need for dermatological consultations could be improved by regional teledermatological and teledermoscopic triage between GPs and dermatologists.

The influence of educational measures and low-level laser phototherapy on temporomandibular disorders: Study protocol clinical trial (SPIRIT Compliant).

Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) with low-power laser is used for pain relief in several clinical conditions, including temporomandibular disorders (TMD). As musculoskeletal pain often produces changes in motor behavior, it is common for patients with TMD to present limited mandibular movements. To the date, there is no consensus about the optimal dosimetric parameters of PMBT for TMD.
