Understanding Health Literacy Among Migrants in Portugal: The Impact of Environmental Issues.

Background/objectives: The health of migrant populations is strongly influenced by social, cultural, and environmental factors. Promoting health literacy (HL) is essential to empower these populations and reduce health inequalities. We aimed to assess the perceptions and behaviors of migrants residing in a neighborhood within a municipality in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon regarding health risks arising from environmental conditions, as well as to determine their level of health literacy.

Health-related quality of life after rehabilitation from knee surgery in rural and urban settings: a quasi-experimental study.

Background: Injury to the knee joint is associated with physical disability, stiffness, pain, restriction of movement and impairment of the person's quality of life, with a few treatment options, including surgery and rehabilitation. This study aims to evaluate the impact of a rehabilitation program on the quality of life reported by patients living in rural and urban areas after knee surgery, using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).

Methods: This quasi-experimental study with two groups of participants undergoing primary knee surgery was carried out in two rehabilitation centers, one in an urban area and another in a rural one.

This study assesses the functional profile, depressive symptoms, and quality of life of older adults in the Central Alentejo region of Portugal. : A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted with a convenience sample of 868 older adults in Portuguese long-term care facilities across the Évora district.

The aim of the study is to assess the psychometric properties of the Portuguese version of the 18-items Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale (Form B) in a Portuguese sample of people aged 60 and over. Background: The 18-item Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale (Form B) is an instrument for assessing dysfunctional attitudes and can be useful as a predictor of depression for both initial episodes and relapses Methods: This was a one-stage cross-sectional survey of Portuguese-speaking people aged 60 years and over, able to read and write, functionally autonomous, and living in the community in their usual residences. The instrument was evaluated for its psychometric properties.
