Background: Facial recognition technology in medical imaging, particularly with head scans, poses privacy risks due to identifiable facial features. This study evaluates the use of facial recognition software in identifying facial features from head CT scans and explores a defacing pipeline using TotalSegmentator to reduce re-identification risks while preserving data integrity for research.
Methods: 1404 high-quality renderings from the UCLH EIT Stroke dataset, both with and without defacing were analysed.
Targeted proteomics methods have been greatly improved and refined over the last decade and are becoming increasingly the method of choice in protein and peptide quantitative assays. Despite the tremendous progress, targeted proteomics assays still suffer from inadequate sensitivity for lower abundant proteins and throughput, especially in complex biological samples. These attributes are essential for establishing targeted proteomics methods at the forefront of clinical use.

In contrast, tissues are complex in nature with spatial arrangements of cell types and extracellular matrices. Thus, we present Suspended Tissue Open Microfluidic Patterning (STOMP), which utilizes a removable, open microfluidic patterning channel to pattern multiple spatial regions across a single suspended tissue.

To expand the remote study toolkit, we have previously developed homeRNA, which allows for at-home self-collection and stabilization of blood and demonstrated the feasibility of using homeRNA in high temperature climates. Here, we expand upon this work through a systematic study exploring the effects of high temperature on RNA integrity through in-lab and field experiments.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIon mobility spectrometry (IMS) is a widely used gas-phase separation technique, particularly when coupled with mass spectrometry (MS). Modern IMS instruments often apply elevated reduced field strengths for improved ion separation and ion focusing. These alter the collision dynamics and further drive ion reaction processes that can change the analyte's structure.
