Background: This single-blind, noninferiority trial evaluated whether 10% carbamide peroxide (CP) applied for 2 or 4 hours daily is noninferior to 8 hours.

Methods: A total of 120 healthy adults, with teeth shade A2 or darker, were randomly allocated to 3 groups (n = 40). All participants used 10% CP gel in a bleaching tray for 2, 4, and 8 hours daily for 14 days, with the option to extend treatment if they were dissatisfied.

Article Synopsis
  • * Maxillary central incisors were used, with color changes measured before and after treatment, plus after a year of storage, revealing that color became more yellow over time.
  • * Results indicated that neither the sealing method nor the access approach influenced tooth discoloration significantly, though more voids were noted with the Bio-C sealer when using minimally invasive access.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different scaling protocols on the morphology and roughness of the root dentin substrate exposure to ionizing radiation. One hundred and thirty extracted bovine incisors were randomly divided into two groups (n=65): non-irradiated (NIR) and irradiated (IR). Each group was initially subdivided into three subgroups according to the type of non-surgical periodontal protocol: NIT: no instrumentation; HS: hand scaling with 15 apical-coronal instrument movements; US: ultrasonic scaling with 15 apical-coronal cycles.

This study evaluated the effects of surrounding and background shades on the color adjustment potential (CAP) and visual color match of two single-shade composites, Vittra APS Unique and Charisma Diamond One. Cylinder-shaped specimens were constructed, consisting of either single-shade composites alone (simple) or composites surrounded by the Forma material at shades A1 or A3 (dual). Simple specimens using only the Forma at the specified shades were also prepared.

This study assessed the reliability of a color measurement method using images obtained from a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera and a stereoscopic loupe. Disc-shaped specimens were created using the composite Filtek Z350 XT (shades DA1, DA2, DA3, and DA4) (n = 3). CIELAB color coordinates of the specimens were measured using the spectrophotometer SP60 over white and black backgrounds.
