Background: This study aims to investigate the effects of a multimodal program using augmented reality on the functional fitness and physical activity of older adults living in the community.

Method: Seventy-eight older adults living in the community participated in this study. Participants were divided into three groups: a control group that maintained their usual activities, and two experimental groups, one with multimodal training (EG1) and the other with multimodal training combined with augmented reality (EG2).

PHARC syndrome (polyneuropathy, hearing loss, ataxia, retinitis pigmentosa, and cataracts) is a rare autosomal recessive disease, caused by genetic mutation of the ABHD12 gene. This syndrome is still not well known and can be misdiagnosed, especially in the early stages, as it can be easily confused with other neurodegenerative diseases. We present the first description of the anesthetic management of 2 siblings with PHARC syndrome who underwent unilateral cochlear implantation.

Coastal mangrove ecosystems have been shown to be important microplastic (MP) sinks. Yet, information regarding their MP sequestration capacity is scant. Here, we characterized the spatial and vertical distribution of MPs in mangrove ecosystems of the Amazon River delta and quantified, for the first time, their MP burial and potential economic value related to their surface water filtering capacity.
