Characterisation of the effects of the chemotherapeutic agent paclitaxel on neuropathic pain-related behaviour, anxiodepressive behaviour, cognition, and the endocannabinoid system in male and female rats.

Paclitaxel (PTX) is a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug, however, one of its major adverse effects is chronic neuropathic pain, with the incidence being higher in women than in men. The neurobiological mechanisms behind this sex difference are still largely unclear, and the endocannabinoid system, which exhibits sexual dimorphism and plays a key role in pain regulation, is a promising area for further studies. The present study aimed to characterise pain-, cognition-, anxiety-, and depression-related behaviours in male and female rats following PTX administration, and associated alterations in the endocannabinoid system.

A multi-frequency altimetry snow depth product over Arctic sea ice.

Sea ice thickness is an essential variable to understand and forecast the dynamic ice cover and can be estimated by satellite altimetry. Nevertheless, it is affected by uncertainties especially from snow depth, a key parameter to derive it from ice freeboard. We developed a snow depth product based on the differences between CryoSat-2 SAR Ku and IceSat-2 laser altimeters which have different snow penetration capabilities.

Human neuroinvasive Toscana virus infections in Italy from 2016 to 2023: Increased incidence in 2022 and 2023.

BackgroundToscana virus (TOSV) is transmitted to humans through bites of infected sand flies. Neuroinvasive TOSV infections are leading causes of meningitis/encephalitis in southern Europe and notifiable in Italy since 2016. In 2022-23, Italy experienced extreme climate anomalies and a concomitant increase in mosquito and tick-borne disease transmission.

Novel allelic variants of bla carried on IncN and IncC plasmids isolated from clinical cases in Argentina: In vivo emergence of bla.

Objective: The OXA-48-like enzymes have the capacity to hydrolyse carbapenems and are members of class D β-lactamases that are primarily detected in Enterobacterales. The allelic variant bla, which has low hydrolytic activity towards carbapenems, was detected in Argentina in 2011 and has spread successfully since then, giving sporadic origin to novel local variants. The aim of this study was to analyse the phenotypic profile and dissemination strategies of two novel OXA enzymes, bla and bla, located in Escherichia coli M17224 and Klebsiella pneumoniae M21014, respectively, isolated from two paediatric patients.

Computed Tomographic Findings in Dogs with Hepatic Bacterial Parenchymal Infection and Abscessation.

Bacterial liver parenchymal infections in dogs are rarely documented, and their imaging characteristics are scarce in the veterinary literature, especially in Computed Tomography (CT). This retrospective multicentric study aimed to describe the CT characteristics of parenchymal bacterial liver infection and abscessation in dogs and compare them with the human literature. Twenty dogs met the inclusion criteria.
