Introduction: This article provides a strategy by which a manufacturing process with a Biosafety Level 2 (BL2) designation can be downgraded to Biosafety Level 1 (BL1). The principles of the downgrading process are based on the robust contamination controls in clinical and commercial manufacturing, which typically are not part of Research and Development processes. These strict requirements along with the application of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) principles provide a framework by which processes can be suitably managed and controlled to mitigate biohazard risk, specifically for cell lines that may be contaminated with human pathogenic viral agents.

Scuba diving is one of the most common and practised water sport activities in Genoa, especially in the more recent years. Although scuba diving is generally considered a safe activity, this does not exclude the possibility of serious or fatal accidents from happening. This retrospective study investigates the case history of deaths resulting from diving accidents recorded by the Municipal Morgue of Genoa over a period of 53 years, specifically from 1968 to 2021.

The etiopathogenesis of idiopathic scoliosis remains unknown, although genetic or hereditary factors, neurological disorders, hormonal and metabolic dysfunctions, biomechanical factors, and environmental factors seem to be involved. Several studies have found that patients with scoliosis have common characteristics of taller stature, lower body mass index (BMI), and low systemic bone mass. We conducted a scoping review to analyze the association between idiopathic scoliosis and BMI.

Article Synopsis
  • Duplex α + β' brasses are commonly used for water distribution due to their low cost and strength, but they can face corrosion issues.
  • This study examined two leaded brass types (CW617N and CW602N) and one lead-free type (CW724R) in simulated drinking water containing varying chloride levels, following Moroccan standards.
  • Results showed that all brass types, especially CW617N, were susceptible to stress corrosion cracking (SCC), with increased chloride concentration leading to higher SCC risk.
