In an urban demographic, high TB burden surveillance site in Guinea-Bissau, most deaths occur at home, and information on cause of death (CoD) is lacking. To examine CoD and the proportion of TB deaths in three groups: among patients examined for TB without a verified diagnosis after diagnostic workup, described as "assumed TB-negative" (aTBneg), among patients with a confirmed diagnosis of TB and in a sample of the background population. Verbal autopsies (VAs) were obtained for registered deaths occurring between 1 January 2010 and 15 June 2016.

In this paper, we turn to languaging, defined here as activity in which wordings play a part. On such a view, while activity is paramount, people also orient to acts of vocalization as wordings. These physical wordings can be used as tools that shape attending, with recourse to neither mental representations nor symbols that store and transmit information.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how adaptive traits, specifically cyanogenesis (a chemical defense), in white clover (Trifolium repens L.) influence plant survival and reproduction across different climates using 161 genotypes from 15 North American locations in a common garden experiment.
  • - The results show that the origin population's environmental conditions play a crucial role in plant fitness, with climatic similarities proving more significant than geographic distances for predicting plant performance over a year.
  • - Although cyanogenic plants experienced slightly reduced herbivore damage, it did not lead to increased overall fitness, indicating that both climate and local adaptive traits are essential for effective conservation strategies amid climate change.

Background: Multiple factors likely impact response and remission rates in the treatment of depression with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). Notably, the role of symptom severity in outcomes with rTMS is poorly understood.

Objective/hypothesis: This study investigated the predictors of achieving remission in patients suffering from depression who receive ≥3 rTMS treatments per week.
