Triclosan-coated sutures (antibacterial sutures) can reduce the risk of postoperative surgical site infection. This study aimed to investigate the effect of intraoperative factors, including antibacterial sutures, on the risk of postpartum septic complications. The prospective study included patients who underwent caesarean section.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFT cells orchestrate adaptive and innate immune responses against pathogens and transformed cells. However, T cells are also the main adaptive effector cells that mediate allergic and autoimmune reactions. Within the last few years, it has become abundantly clear that activation, differentiation, effector function, and environmental adaptation of T cells is closely linked to their energy metabolism.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFT helper (Th) cells provide immunity to pathogens but also contribute to detrimental immune responses during allergy and autoimmunity. Th2 cells mediate asthmatic airway inflammation and Th1 cells are involved in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis. T cell activation involves complex transcriptional networks and metabolic reprogramming, which enable proliferation and differentiation into Th1 and Th2 cells.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFSupported lipid bilayers (SLBs) are a useful tool for studying the interactions between lipids and other biomolecules that make up a cell membrane. SLBs are typically formed by the adsorption and rupture of vesicles from solution. Although it is known that many experimental factors can affect whether SLB formation is successful, there is no comprehensive understanding of the mechanism.
