Introduction: Long hospital stay is associated with high costs and poor quality of life in elderly patients with heart failure (HF). This study aimed to investigate the association of early administration of tolvaptan with length of hospital stay among elderly patients with HF.
Methods: The cohort included elderly patients (age ≥ 75 years) admitted to Shinonoi General Hospital between July 2016 and December 2018 with a primary diagnosis of acute decompensated HF treated with tolvaptan.
Unlabelled: Atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS) is associated with ischemic nephropathy, kidney failure, and secondary hypertension. Percutaneous transluminal renal artery stenting (PTRAS) is required for patients with hemodynamically significant ARAS. However, PTRAS can be problematic in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) because the use of a large amount of iodinated contrast medium is associated with an increased risk of contrast-induced nephropathy.

Background: Humanin (HN) is an endogenous 24-residue peptide that was first identified as a protective factor against neuronal death in Alzheimer's disease (AD). We previously demonstrated that the highly potent HN derivative HNG (HN with substitution of Gly for Ser14) ameliorated cognitive impairment in AD mouse models. Despite the accumulating evidence on the antagonizing effects of HN against cognitive deficits, the mechanisms behind these effects remain to be elucidated.
