In healthy vision, bright slow-motion stimuli are processed primarily by the regions of the visual system that receive input from the central part of the scene, whereas processing of dark fast-motion stimuli is more dependent on peripheral visual input. We tested 31 retinitis pigmentosa (RP) patients with long-term loss of peripheral photoreceptors and healthy controls with temporarily limited peripheral vision. We measured motion-based acuity using random-dot kinematograms, establishing individual thresholds for differentiating a circle from an ellipse.

Aims: The aim of this study is to provide a retrospective assessment of the possibility of determining the severity of atherosclerosis based on postmortem computed tomography (PMCT), autopsy protocols and histopathological examination results. In the first stage of the study, 200 cases were evaluated of persons over 40 years of age in whom postmortem computed tomography and autopsy were performed. In the second stage, the cases were divided into a study group (cardiovascular deaths) and a control group, as well as divided by age and, in addition to autopsy protocols and PMCT results, histopathological findings were evaluated.

Small and shallow water bodies are particularly sensitive to adverse conditions connected with anthropogenic eutrophication. As model systems, ponds are a good object for ecological research and monitoring of global environmental changes.
