The Impact of Anxiety and Depressive Symptomatology on Greek Practicing Lawyers' Self-Esteem.

Background/objectives: This study examines the impact of anxiety and depressive symptomatology on self-esteem among Greek practicing lawyers. The high-stress environment of the legal profession is known to heighten the risk of mental health issues, yet limited research exists on Greek lawyers. The study aims to explore associations between anxiety, depressive symptoms, and self-esteem, hypothesizing that increased anxiety and depression correlate with reduced self-esteem.

Integrated geochemical analysis of urban and peri-urban soils: a case study of Lamia City, Greece.

The occurrence of Potentially Toxic Elements (PTEs) and other chemical elements in urban and peri-urban soils impacts human health and quality of life, posing a challenge for geoscientists. This study investigated the soil geochemistry of Lamia City, focusing on identifying the geogenic and anthropogenic origins of elements. A total of 168 topsoil samples (0-10 cm) were collected in April 2023, and the analysis included the near-total concentrations of 51 elements.

[Subthalamic deep brain stimulation in a case of idiopathic Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia].

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) and schizophrenia can coexist. Antipsychotics block striatal D2 receptors, which inevitably aggravates the manifestations of PD.

Case Report: We report the case of a male patient with idiopathic Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia, with poor tolerance to minimal doses of levodopa, who underwent a dramatic improvement after bilateral subthalamic deep brain stimulation (DBS-STN).

Decisions of Greek Courts Securing the Right of Parent-Child Communication and Their Determinants.

Background: There is an increasing awareness that a child's separation from one parent after the divorce places the child's development and well-being at risk. The aim of this study was to determine how Greek courts deal with the cases of parental prevention of communication with their children and which factors affect the judicial decisions.

Methods: The Greek legal databases "NOMOS" and "Isokratis" were searched, and associations between judicial decisions, as well as communication prevention ways, and several parameters, were assessed.

Secrecy & anonymity in donor assisted conception and the right to genetic origins information: The current status in Greece.

When the issue of donor assisted conception arises, two bioethical and legal issues have to be answered. Firstly, when can a donor be considered as a legal parent of a child who claims to have been born through his genetic material? Secondly, should anonymous sperm donation be allowed? In this article, these questions are answered according to Greek Law. Also, the author provides integrated solutions to legal problems.
