Article Synopsis
  • Pregnancy-associated breast cancer (PrBC) is on the rise, prompting a study to analyze the genetic differences between PrBC and non-Pregnancy-associated breast cancer (non-PrBC) patients.
  • Researchers performed gene expression analyses and found that 355 genes were upregulated in luminal-type PrBC, with the CXCL13 gene showing the most significant increase.
  • A negative correlation was noted between the expression levels of CXCL13 and the estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) in luminal A-type breast cancer, offering insights into the disease's development during pregnancy.

Fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) is a common and distressing condition among adolescents and young adults (AYAs). This study aims to investigate the efficacy of digital interventions, including distress screening-based information provision and smartphone problem-solving therapy, on common psychological distress, especially FCR, in AYA patients with cancer. Participants will be 224 AYA outpatients with cancer aged 15-39 years who will be randomly assigned to either an 8-week smartphone-based intervention or a waitlist control group.

We discuss a case where the blood cultures of a patient with clinical chorioamnionitis and elevated D-dimer levels enabled early diagnosis of infective endocarditis. A 31-year-old female with a 39-week pregnancy presented to the obstetrics department with a fever. Cardiotocography revealed fetal tachycardia and severe late deceleration.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the fever duration in children infected with different influenza viruses (A(H1N1)pdm09, A(H3N2), and influenza B) and treated with either baloxavir marboxil or neuraminidase inhibitors (NAIs) over two influenza seasons in Japan.* -
  • Among the 1,742 children analyzed, baloxavir showed a shorter median duration of fever compared to oseltamivir for A(H1N1)pdm09 but not in multivariable analyses, while no significant differences were found for A(H3N2) infections.* -
  • For influenza B, baloxavir was notably more effective, reducing fever duration by approximately 15 hours compared to

Makaluvamine J, a pyrroloiminoquinone alkaloid of marine sponge origin, and its analogs were synthesized and assessed for their potential to develop as a novel and selective growth inhibitor targeting human pancreatic cancer PANC-1 cells. Ts-damirone B, a common precursor featuring a pyrroloiminoquinone core structure, was synthesized through Bartoli indole synthesis and IBX-mediated oxidation. Late-stage diversification at -5 and -9 yielded makaluvamine J and several analogs.
