Background And Aim: The poultry meat and its products are considered ideal media for bacterial growth and spoilage, as they are highly nutritive with a favorable pH. The food industry has focused its attention on a great diversity of plant species as food preservatives. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of ,  , and in food samples and to evaluate of the antibacterial activity of some medicinal plant extracts against these bacteria.

The interplay between vitamin D and COVID-19: protective or bystander?

The world is currently facing the COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the novel Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Due to a lack of specific treatment and prophylaxis, protective health measures that can reduce infection severity and COVID-19 mortality are urgently required. Clinical and epidemiological studies have shown that vitamin D deficiency can be linked to an increased risk of viral infection, including COVID-19.

CD19 CD24 CD38 Regulatory B Cells and Memory B Cells in Periodontitis: Association with Pro-Inflammatory and Anti-Inflammatory Cytokines.

Regulatory B cells (Bregs) are unique subpopulations of B cells with immune-regulating or immune-suppressing properties and play a role in peripheral tolerance. Due to the current limitations of human Breg studies among periodontal diseases, in the present study, we tried to analyze the change in circulating Bregs, pro-inflammatory, and anti-inflammatory cytokines in patients with periodontitis. Peripheral blood from 55 patients with stage 2 periodontitis and 20 healthy controls was analyzed using flow cytometry to evaluate the frequency of CD19CD24CD38 Breg cells.

Simultaneous injection of autologous mononuclear cells with TACE in HCC patients; preliminary study.

Background: The discovery of the pluripotent stem cells made the prospect of cell therapy and tissue regeneration a clinical reality, especially with the evidence of contribution of the stem cells of bone marrow origin in hepatic regeneration. Infusion of bone marrow stem cells before trans-arterial chemoembolization may help to increase liver volume and consequently increase hepatic reserve in patients with HCC, and this may improve the outcome of this procedure.

Materials And Methods: Four Child B class patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma treated by transarterial chemoembolization were injected with autologous bone marrow mononuclear layer containing stem cell in the hepatic artery feeding the contralateral lobe of the liver in the same session, follow-up of the patients was done by doing liver profile and CT liver volumetry before the surgery and 3 months later.
