Supplementary motor area syndrome (SMAS) represents a common neurosurgical sequela. The incidence and time frame of its occurrence have yet to be characterized after surgery for brain tumors. We examined patients suffering from a brain tumor preoperatively, postoperatively, and during follow-up examinations after three months, including fine motor skills testing and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

Plasmonic nanostructures, of which gold nanoparticles are the most elementary example, owe their unique properties to localized surface plasmons (LSP), the modes of free electron oscillation. LSP alter significantly electromagnetic field in the nanostructure neighborhood (i.e.

Background: Navigated repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (nrTMS) is effective therapy for stroke patients. Neurorehabilitation could be supported by low-frequency stimulation of the non-damaged hemisphere to reduce transcallosal inhibition.

Objective: The present study examines the effect of postoperative nrTMS therapy of the unaffected hemisphere in glioma patients suffering from acute surgery-related paresis of the upper extremity (UE) due to subcortical ischemia.

Early growth response gene (EGR1) is a transcription factor known to be a downstream effector of B-cell receptor signaling and Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) signaling in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). While EGR1 is characterized as a tumor suppressor in leukemia and multiple myeloma, the role of EGR1 in lymphoma is unknown. Here we demonstrate that EGR1 is a potential oncogene that promotes cell proliferation in DLBCL.
