Background: Healthcare systems aim to enhance the health status and well-being of the individuals and populations they serve. To achieve this, measuring and evaluating the quality and safety of services provided and the outcomes achieved is essential. Like other countries, Romania faces challenges regarding the quality of care provided in its public hospitals.

The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a powerful tool to measure the electrical activity of the heart, and the analysis of its data can be useful to assess the patient's health. In particular, the computational analysis of electrocardiogram data, also called ECG signal processing, can reveal specific patterns or heart cycle trends which otherwise would be unnoticeable by medical experts. When performing ECG signal processing, however, it is easy to make mistakes and generate inflated, overoptimistic, or misleading results, which can lead to wrong diagnoses or prognoses and, in turn, could even contribute to bad medical decisions, damaging the health of the patient.

Identification of intracellular targets of anticancer drug candidates provides key information on their mechanism of action. Exploiting the ability of the anticancer (C∧N)-chelated half-sandwich iridium(III) complexes to covalently bind proteins, click chemistry with a bioorthogonal azido probe was used to localize a phenyloxazoline-chelated iridium complex within cells and profile its interactome at the proteome-wide scale. Proteins involved in protein folding and actin cytoskeleton regulation were identified as high-affinity targets.

Current technology to prevent biofouling usually relies on the use of toxic, biocide-containing materials, which can become a serious threat to marine ecosystems, affecting both targeted and nontargeted organisms. Therefore, the development of broad-spectrum, less toxic antifouling materials is a challenge for researchers; such materials would be quite important in applications like aquaculture. In this respect, surface chemistry, physical properties, durability and attachment scheme can play a vital role in the performance of the materials.

Half-sandwich complexes of iridium(III) are currently being developed as anticancer drug candidates. In this context, we introduce for which the C^N chelating phenyloxazoline ligand carries a fluorescent and lipophilic BODIPY reporter group, designed for intracellular tracking and hydrophobic compartment tropism. High-resolution analysis of cells cultured with showed that it quickly permeates the plasma membrane and accumulates in the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum (ER), generating ER stress, dispersal of the Golgi apparatus, cell proliferation arrest and apoptotic cell death.
