Capitolunate arthrodesis maintaining carpal height for the treatment of SNAC wrist.

The clinical and radiological results of a modified midcarpal fusion technique for scaphoid nonunion advance collapse were retrospectively studied in eight patients. All had partial resection of the proximal part of the fractured scaphoid, limited radial styloidectomy, scaphocapitate and lunocapitate arthrodesis, using a block of iliac crest graft to maintain carpal height. All united without complications and wrist motion, grip strength and carpal height were improved postoperatively.

Open transtrapezial injuries of the thumb: operative treatment.

Open transtrapezium injuries of the thumb are not common and sufficiently described injuries. We have clinically and radiologically evaluated six patients with transtrapezium injury of the thumb. The average follow-up time was 65 months.

Trigger wrist.

Trigger wrist is a relatively rare phenomenon. The pathological entities to which the term trigger wrist is applied are not well defined in the literature. We present three cases of trigger wrist as a result of flexor tendon pathology, review the literature and discuss the use of the term "trigger wrist".

Secondary intramedullary nailing after distraction osteogenesis: 30 patients followed for 2-12 years.

Background: There is no consensus about replacement of an external fixator by reamed intramedullary nailing in fracture cases.

Patients And Methods: We evaluated the outcome in 30 patients (33 segments) of secondary intramedullary nailing during the consolidation phase after callus distraction using an external device. The main reasons for nailing were docking site nonunion (17 patients), angular deformity or fracture of the lengthened area (8 patients) or intolerance of the external device (5 patients), in 11 patients combined with a delayed distracted callus maturation.
