Practice Resource for Reproductive Psychiatry/Women's Mental Health in Forensic Psychiatry Practice.

This practice resource seeks to describe salient problems within reproductive psychiatry (also known as women's mental health) for the practice of forensic psychiatry. Understanding is critical and can help combat gender bias in such evaluations. Forensic psychiatric evaluations in the criminal realm, including evaluations related to neonaticide, infanticide, filicide, child abuse, and kidnapping by cesarean, require an understanding of reproductive psychiatry.

Thromboprophylaxis with intermediate dose enoxaparin during asparaginase containing induction for young adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Thrombosis rates among young adults receiving asparaginase (ASP) for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) can reach 34%, with highest risk during induction. Our institution implemented a standard practice of 1 mg/kg/day enoxaparin administered to young adults with ALL who are treated with ASP during induction. We performed a retrospective analysis of patients who received thromboprophylaxis with enoxaparin 1 mg/kg/day during ASP-containing induction for ALL at Oregon Health & Science University from 2012 to 2023.

Enhanced Survival of Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia-Dysplastic over Proliferative Subtype after Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplant: A Tertiary Center Experience and Literature Review.

Introduction: CMML is a rare neoplasm with overlapping myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative features whose only potential cure is allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT).

Methods: This retrospective study examined 27 CMML patients with high-risk clinical features who underwent first allo-HCT at our institution between 2004 and 2022.

Results: Nineteen patients were diagnosed with the proliferative subtype (CMML-MPN) and 8 with the dysplastic subtype (CMML-MDS).

Prognostic impact of chronic lymphocytic leukemia comorbidity index in a young population: a real-world evidence study of a national gulf region cohort.

In chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), comorbidities assessed by the CLL comorbidity index (CLL-CI) have been associated with outcomes in Western cohorts. We conducted a retrospective analysis of an unselected Middle Eastern cohort of newly diagnosed CLL patients seen at the Kuwait Cancer Control Center (n = 300). Compared to Western studies, these Middle Eastern patients were diagnosed at a younger age (median of 59) and had a higher comorbidity burden (69% non-low risk CLL-CI).
