[Multicentric Screening of Local Antibiotic Resistance in Uncomplicated Urinary System Infections: 1850 Patients from 37 Centers].

This study was aimed to identify the most frequently observed pathogens in uncomplicated urinary tract infections from outpatient urinary isolates obtained across seven different geographical regions in Türkiye and to determine whether the antibiotic resistance rates of these pathogens differ significantly between these regions. The study included patients aged 18 to 65 years who were diagnosed with uncomplicated urinary tract infections and had positive urine cultures from March 2021 to August 2022, across 37 different centers in Türkiye. The participating centers were selected based on their use of the disk diffusion method, in line with the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) guidelines, to ensure standardization of urine culture data.

Mutations in mexT bypass the stringent response dependency of virulence in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa produces a wealth of virulence factors whose production is controlled via an intricate regulatory systems network. Here, we uncover a major player in the evolution and regulation of virulence that enhances host colonization and antibiotic resistance. By characterizing a collection of mutants lacking the stringent response (SR), a system key for virulence, we show that the loss of the central regulator MexT bypasses absence of the SR, restoring full activation of virulence pathways.

Diversity in Naturally Acquired Immunity to Group B Streptococcus: A Comparative Study of Women from Bangladesh, Malawi, and the United Kingdom.

Background: Significant disparities in Group B Streptococcus (GBS) colonisation and neonatal disease rates have been documented across different geographical regions. For example, Bangladesh reports notably lower rates compared to the United Kingdom (UK) and Malawi. This study investigates whether this epidemiological variability correlates with the immune response to GBS in these regions.

Assessing the outcomes of subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy: pulling technique compared to the conventional method.

Introduction: The positive effect of varicocelectomy on sperm parameters (sperm morphology, concentration, motility) and fertility and pregnancy rates has been proven. Although various techniques have been defined for varicocele treatment, varicocelectomy with the pulling technique was first defined in 2017. The aim of this retrospective study is to compare the effectiveness and reliability of subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy with the "pulling" technique and conventional subinguinal varicocelectomy.
