Predictors of response to sialendoscopy for patients with chronic non-obstructive Sialadenitis versus radioiodine induced Sialadenitis.

Objective: Radioiodine therapy, commonly used post-thyroidectomy to eliminate residual affected tissue in thyroid cancer patients, can lead to the development of radioiodine induced sialadenitis (RIS). Chronic idiopathic sialadenitis (CIS) is characterized by intermittent and often painful swelling of the salivary glands, not attributed to salivary duct stones. Sialendoscopy is used to treat sialadenitis when conservative management fails.

Implementation of an Optimized Preoperative Checklist for Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Within a Multiinstitutional Resident Education Curriculum.

Background: Preoperative review of computed tomography (CT) imaging assists with endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) planning, where trainees may benefit from a systematic approach. We have previously developed an optimized preoperative checklist for sinus CT imaging using an iterative modified Delphi method.

Objective: In this study, we assess the utility of an optimized preoperative checklist for residents performing ESS.

Background: Cerebrospinal fluid leak after endoscopic skull base surgery remains a significant complication. Several investigators have suggested Hydroset cranioplasty to reduce leak rates. We investigated our early experience with Hydroset and compared the rate of nasal complications and CSF leak rates with case-controlled historic controls.

Planar Cell Polarity Signaling: Coordinated Crosstalk for Cell Orientation.

The planar cell polarity (PCP) system is essential for positioning cells in 3D networks to establish the proper morphogenesis, structure, and function of organs during embryonic development. The PCP system uses inter- and intracellular feedback interactions between components of the core PCP, characterized by coordinated planar polarization and asymmetric distribution of cell populations inside the cells. PCP signaling connects the anterior-posterior to left-right embryonic plane polarity through the polarization of cilia in the Kupffer's vesicle/node in vertebrates.

Unique clinical and prognostic behavior of patients diagnosed with combined exophytic and inverted papilloma histologic subtype.

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical and prognostic behaviors of sinonasal papillomas.

Methods: Patients diagnosed with sinonasal papilloma were reviewed between 2001 and 2016 at a tertiary rhinology practice. Using pathology-specific electronic medical record software, patients diagnosed with sinonasal papilloma were identified.
