Background/objectives: Films in the mouth offer a promising alternative drug delivery system for oral administration, with several advantages over traditional oral formulations. Furthermore, their non-invasive nature and easy administration make them conducive to increasing patient compliance. The use of active agents in these films can further improve their drug delivery properties, making them an even more useful drug delivery system.

Celecoxib and rofecoxib have different effects on small intestinal ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats.

Introduction: Intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is associated with high mortality and there is an unmet need for novel therapies. The intestinal expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) increases rapidly after mesenteric I/R, but it is still a question of debate whether selective COX-2 inhibitors can mitigate I/R-induced gut injury. Here we aimed to compare the effect of celecoxib and rofecoxib, two selective COX-2 inhibitors, on intestinal I/R-induced injury in rats.

Grassland restoration on linear landscape elements - comparing the effects of topsoil removal and topsoil transfer.

Artificial linear landscape elements, including roads, pipelines, and drainage channels, are main sources of global habitat fragmentation. Restoration of natural habitats on unused linear landscape elements can increase habitat quality and connectivity without interfering with agricultural or industrial development. Despite that topsoil removal and transfer are widely applied methods in restoration projects, up to our knowledge these were previously not compared in the same study system.

Reversible protein phosphorylation regulates various cellular mechanisms in eukaryotes by altering the conformation, activity, localization, and stability of substrate proteins. In root meristems, histone post-translational modifications are crucial for proper cell division, and they are also involved in oxidative stress signaling. To investigate the link between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitosis, we treated various Arabidopsis genotypes, including wild-types and mutants showing dysfunctional PP2A, with the ROS-inducing herbicide diquat (DQ).
