Fibroblast activating protein (FAP) is a cell surface marker of cancer-associated fibroblasts with a distinct pro-tumorigenic role. The present study analyzed the pan-cancer expression; and clinical and mutational profiles of the FAP coding gene. Molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) deciphered the backbone dynamics and energetics of FAP.

Background And Purpose: Gentamicin (GEN) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that cannot be prescribed freely because of its toxicity. Thymoquinone (THQ), a phytochemical, has antibacterial, antioxidant, and toxicity-reducing properties. However, its hydrophobicity and light sensitivity make it challenging to utilize.

Inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) and endocrine disorders are common genetic conditions in the Saudi population with the incidence rate often underestimated. Newborn screening (NBS) using various disease panels provides the first line in the early detection and intervention among infants with a high risk of IEM. Here we aim to assess the incidence of screening disorders and provide an overview of the NBS program at the Ministry of Health Tertiary Care King Fahad Medical City.

Article Synopsis
  • Mentha arvensis, also known as peppermint, was studied for its toxic and repellent effects using essential oil (MaEO) on the cockroach Nauphoeta cinerea at various concentrations.
  • The study utilized gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to identify major compounds in MaEO, revealing that menthol is the predominant component at 71.31%.
  • Results showed that MaEO decreased oxidative stress markers like lipid peroxidation and non-protein thiols, while key compounds indicated potential analgesic properties through molecular docking studies.
