Background: Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) is a potentially life-threatening complication associated with carfilzomib, a proteasome inhibitor approved for treating multiple myeloma. TMA typically presents within the initial months of treatment; however, delayed onset is rare and poses significant diagnostic challenges.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of the medical records of a 47-year-old Caucasian woman diagnosed with IgA kappa myeloma who developed signs and symptoms consistent with TMA eleven months after the initiation of carfilzomib therapy and already in ongoing very good partial remission.
Background/aim: The incidence and characteristics of pediatric thrombotic events have become increasingly recognized, due to the enhanced utilization of advanced diagnostic techniques. Pediatric thrombosis remains less frequent than in adults, often manifesting in those with underlying congenital or acquired risk factors. This study aimed to establish epidemiological data on pediatric thrombotic events in Bihor County, Romania, highlighting the challenges of diagnosis in smaller medical centers and proposing a relevant diagnostic and treatment algorithm.

Replacing fossil-based organic solvents in this routinely used catalytic protocol with biomass-derived media is crucial for developing environmentally safe alternatives and towards sustainability considerations. In this study, the open-chain derivatives of bio-originated substance g-valerolactone i.

We aimed to compare the accuracy of traditional and advanced prognostic models.
Methods: A systematic search for this systematic review and meta-analysis (CRTN42022370251) was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library databases on 28 June 2024.
Although age-related deterioration of the cardiac function is a well-studied area of research, the interventions and their molecular pathways have not yet been fully identified. Since physical activity is a powerful preventive measure against cardiac aging, our study compared the effects of long-term voluntary and forced physical activity with a sedentary group, utilizing an aging rat model characterized by mitochondrial dysfunction that contributes to age-related cardiovascular diseases. Four experimental groups were created: (I) young controls (12-week-old); (II) 18-month-old aged sedentary rats; (III) aged group with free access to running wheels for 6 months; (IV) aged rats subjected to forced physical activity for 6 months.
