Case Report of a Rare Cause of Reactive Arthritis: Leptospirosis.

Introduction: Leptospirosis is a zoonosis caused by infection with pathogenic species. Leptospirosis has protean manifestations and rare, unusual presentations should be kept in mind in relevant epidemiological scenario. Reactive arthritis refers to acute non-purulent arthritis complicating an infection elsewhere in the body.

Treatment of infected non-unions with segmental defects with a rail fixation system.

We conducted this study to evaluate the use of rail fixation system in infected gap non-union of femur and tibia as an alternative to the established Ilizarov circular fixator technique. Prospective study. The study was done in the Department of Orthopaedic surgery in a medical school and level I trauma center to which the authors are/were affiliated.

Congenital deficiency of distal ulna and dislocation of the radial head treated by single bone forearm procedure.

Congenital deficiency of part of distal ulna affecting the distal radio-ulnar joint is a rare disorder. It is even rarer to find the association of proximal radio-ulnar joint dislocation along with distal ulnar deficiency. This type of congenital forearm anomaly is difficult to treat.

Kienbock's Disease treated with Interposition Arthroplasty using Ipsilateral Palmaris Longus Tendon and Muscle Belly.

Introduction: Kienbock's disease is an osteonecrosis of lunate bone (lunatomalacia) seen more commonly in males in the second to fourth decade of life. The exact etiology is unknown and symptoms include wrist pain and stiffness of wrist. Advanced stages of disease may require lunate excision and filling of the void by various substitutes like silicone implants, tendon grafts etc.

A clinical study of post polio infantile paralysis.

This study reports on 3,000 cases of poliomyelitis seen at the Rehabilitation and Artificial Limb Centre at Lucknow between January 1976 and December 1980. Factors such as age and sex incidence, extremity involvement, incidence of deformities at hip, knee and ankle, lower limb discrepancy, treatment and orthoses prescribed are discussed.
