Wieacker-Wolff syndrome with hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia successfully treated using diazoxide: A case report.

Wieacker-Wolff syndrome (WRWF) is an X-linked genetic disorder characterized by neuromusculoskeletal abnormalities caused by loss-of-function variants of the gene. Here, we report the case of a male infant with WRWF manifesting as multiple joint contractures and congenital anomalies at birth. He underwent gastrostomy to treat the gastroesophageal reflux disease, which caused mixed apnea and transient bradycardia.

Role-play-based coaching program for empowering clinical educators.

Coaching in medical education is a valuable method for enhancing the well-being and job satisfaction of medical professionals, particularly through interactive conversations that foster self-awareness and independent action. A 90-min coaching training program, incorporating lectures and role-plays, was conducted to equip medical professionals with essential coaching skills. The program was well received, and there are plans to expand and tailor future programs to further develop these skills among various healthcare educators.

: Chemoresistance is an important issue to be solved in breast cancer. It is well known that the content and morphology of collagens in tumor tissues are drastically altered following chemotherapy, and discoidin domain receptor 2 (DDR2) is a unique type of receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK). This RTK is activated by collagens, playing important roles in human malignancies.

First-in-Human Trial of Photodynamic Therapy for Spinal Cord Malignant Astrocytoma: Study Protocol.

Our extensive basic research on photodynamic therapy (PDT) application in models of intracranial malignant astrocytoma led to its clinical application for intracranial malignant astrocytoma in Japan. Having considered the safety and effectiveness of this pathology, we initiate a first-in-human clinical study of PDT for spinal cord malignant astrocytoma. This study has an open-label, single-arm design.
