Comparative Analysis of Genes Associated with Obesity in Humans Using Bioinformatic Data and Tools.

Obesity has become a serious global problem that still needs a solution. One of the factors that leads to obesity is genetic predisposition. The identity and characteristics of the genes involved have not yet been fully confirmed.

Editorial policies and good practices in editing the journal 'International Medical Journal--Medicus'.

Ten years ago the Association of Albanian Physicians in Macedonia undertook the very brave step of publishing a scientific medical journal, Medicus, as a platform for publishing biomedical research papers. Medical journal MEDICUS is an international peer-review journal of biomedical science. The first issue was published in 2004, starting with publishing two issues per year.

Some aspects of culturally competent communication in health care in the republic of macedonia.

Aim: To examine the existing situation, barriers and consequences of the intercultural communication in health institutions and to offer training models for strengthening and improving communication skills of health professionals in the Republic of Macedonia.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted to assess the relationship between patients and health professionals. A total of 813 health professionals (302 physicians and 511 other medical staff) from different healthcare institutions, and 1016 patients participated in cross-sectional survey performed in autumn 2010.

Public health aspects of renal diseases in the Republic of Macedonia 1983-2007.

Objective: To present the situation and burden of renal diseases and dialysis in the Republic of Macedonia in the period 1983-2007.

Methodology: A descriptive-statistical method has been applied with retrospective analysis of data for the period 1983-2007. Data from standard reports from ambulatory, dispensary and hospital services in the Republic of Macedonia, mortality statistics for the Republic of Macedonia, data from the World Health Organization and other professional literature and materials have been used.
