Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an immune-mediated, fibroinflammatory, multiorgan disease with an obscure pathogenesis. Findings indicating excessive platelet activation have been reported in systemic sclerosis, which is another autoimmune, multisystemic fibrotic disorder. The immune-mediated, inflammatory, and fibrosing intersections of IgG4-RD and systemic sclerosis raised a question about platelets' role in IgG4-RD.

Aim: To evaluate the effects of intensive and supportive glycemic management strategies over a 12-month period in individuals with T2DM with glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) ≥ 10% and varying backgrounds of glycemic control.
Methods: This prospective observational study investigated glycemic control in patients with poorly controlled T2DM over 12 months.
Background And Objectives: Acute stroke is associated with a spectrum of functional deficits. The objective of this analysis was to explore whether the importance of individual risk factors differ by stroke severity, which may be of relevance to public health strategies to reduce disability.
Methods: INTERSTROKE is an international case-control study of risk factors of first acute stroke (recruitment 2007-August 2015) in 32 countries.
This study aims to evaluate the effects of different environmental gradients and seasonality on the bacterial communities of an impacted coastal lagoon. While the community compositions were homogenous in surface waters with the dominance of Candidatus Pelagibacter, diversity showed high vertical variation due to salinity and dissolved oxygen gradients. Anoxic conditions occurred at deeper parts of the lagoon, particularly at 14 m and 18 m, where nutrient enrichment and high HS concentration were detected resulting in a shift of bacterial community to anoxic species.
