Heavy precipitation, drought, and other hydroclimatic extremes occur more frequently than in the past climate reference period (1961-1990). Given their strong effect on groundwater recharge dynamics, these phenomena increase the vulnerability of groundwater quantity and quality. Over the course of the past decade, we have documented changes in the composition of dissolved organic matter in groundwater.

Parenthood status and plasma oxytocin levels predict specific emotion perception abilities.

Superior recognition of positive emotional facial expressions compared to negative expressions is well established. However, it is unclear whether this superiority effect differs between non-parents and parents, for whom emotion perception (EP) is an indispensable skill. Although EP has been shown to be modulated by the neuropeptide oxytocin, a central factor in the development of parental care, very little research has addressed the relationship between EP skills, the transition to parenthood, and plasma oxytocin levels.

Customization of neonatal functional magnetic resonance imaging: A preclinical phantom-based study.

Over the past few decades, the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) on neonates and very young children has increased dramatically in research and clinical settings. However, the specific characteristics of this population and the MRI standards largely derived from adult studies, pose serious practical challenges. The current study aims to provide general methodological guidelines for customized neonatal fMRI by assessing the performance of various fMRI hardware and software applications.

Background: Treatment of acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) separations remains controversial. Yet, conservative treatment has become more common even for high-grade injuries. Available conservative treatment does currently however not address the loss of anatomical joint integrity in Rockwood (RW) III and V injuries.
