Background: The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system has limited accuracy in predicting survival of gastric cancer patients with inadequate counts of evaluated lymph nodes (LNs). We therefore aimed to develop a prognostic nomogram suitable for clinical applications in such cases.
Methods: A total of 1511 noncardia gastric cancer patients treated between 1990 and 2010 in the academic surgical center were reviewed to compare the 7 and 8 editions of the AJCC staging system.
Anthropogenic stressors affect lakes around the world, ranging in scale from catchment-specific pollutants to the global impacts of climate change. Canada has a large number and diversity of lakes, yet it is not well understood how, where, and when human impacts have affected these lakes at a national scale. The NSERC Canadian Lake Pulse Network sought to create the first nationwide database of Canadian lake health, undertaking a multi-year survey of 664 lakes spanning 12 ecozones across Canada.

Good clinical outcomes require experienced and well-equipped healthcare centers, experienced surgical team and adequate patient qualification process. As a result of the discussion on the need for evaluation of quality of care and treatment outcomes and at the request of the Peritoneal Cancer Section of the Polish Society of Surgical Oncology, accreditation standards have been developed and the Accreditation Committee has been established for healthcare centers providing cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC for the management of primary and secondary peritoneal cancers.
