We demonstrate a new and effective method of producing single-phase superconducting δ3-MoN nanowires from bundled Mo6SyIz (8.2 ≤ y + z ≤ 10) nanowire templates in the presence of ammonia gas. Magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistance measurements confirm single-phase material synthesis.

We describe a straightforward technique to synthesize pure Mo nanowires (NWs) from Mo6SyIz (8,2 15 nm) Mo NWs are highly porous, while small diameters (<7 nm) are made of solid nanocrystalline grains.

In the title compound, C(6)H(6)F(5)NS, the environment of the S atom is roughly octa-hedral. The axial F-S bond appears slightly elongated with respect to the four equatorial F-S bonds. Equatorial F atoms are staggered with respect to the benzene ring.

We report on the first inorganic nanobuds: WS2 nanotubes decorated with fullerene-like particles. They were synthesized by sulfurization of W5O14 nanowires. The fullerene-like particles nucleate in surface corrugations of the nanowires and grow by a diffusion process simultaneously with the transformation of nanowires into hollow multiwall nanotubes.

We report on the synthesis, structure, and self-assembly of single-wall subnanometer-diameter molybdenum disulfide tubes. The nanotubes are up to hundreds of micrometers long and display diverse self-assembly properties on different length scales, ranging from twisted bundles to regularly shaped "furry" forms. The bundles, which contain interstitial iodine, can be readily disassembled into individual molybdenum disulfide nanotubes.
