The breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP/ABCG2) plays a major role in the multidrug resistance of cancers toward chemotherapeutic treatments. It was demonstrated that cholesterol regulates the ABCG2 activity, suggesting that lower levels of membrane cholesterol decrease the ABCG2 activity in mammalian cells. However, the precise mechanism remains unclear.

Background: Painful hemiplegic shoulder (PHS) is a prevalent and challenging complication following a stroke and can significantly impair a patient's engagement in rehabilitation, leading to poorer functional outcomes and extended hospital stays. This retrospective cohort study aims to investigate the incidence, etiology, and management of PHS in stroke inpatients, focusing on the effectiveness of various therapeutic interventions.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of subacute stroke inpatients who developed PHS during rehabilitation at a single center.

Thoracic Hybrid Lesion: A Rare Case of Two Congenital Malformations.

Cystic cuboid adenomatous malformations (CCAM) are congenital pulmonary lesions, usually benign, that can progress into malignancy. Bronchopulmonary sequestration (BPS) is another type of malformation that consistsof an ectopic pulmonary tissue mass that doesn't participate in blood-gas exchanges, with vascularization provided by anomalous branches of the thoracic aorta. Hybrid lesions are lesions that have histological features of CCAM but with systemic vascularization, a pathognomonic sign of BPS.

Impact of ultrasound settings on lung vertical artefacts: an observational study in mechanically ventilated patients.

Introduction: The number of vertical artefacts (VAs) in lung ultrasound (LUS) impacts patients' clinical management. This study aimed to demonstrate the influence of ultrasound settings on the number of VAs in patients under invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV).

Methods: Patients under IMV were recruited for LUS, including three breathing cycles with a motionless curvilinear probe on the thoracic region with the most VAs.
