MRI features distinguishing pediatric Lyme arthritis from septic arthritis.

Objective: This study aims to identify distinguishing MRI features of Lyme arthritis (LA), an increasingly prevalent cause of pediatric infectious arthritis in the USA, to enable rapid discrimination from septic arthritis (SA) and facilitate appropriate management.

Materials And Methods: A single-center, retrospective analysis was conducted on a convenience sample of pediatric patients with LA in an endemic area using EPIC electronic health record data between January 2010 and December 2020. Patients with positive serologic testing and concurrent MRI were selected.

Pediatric residency milestone performance is not predicted by the United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 Clinical Knowledge.

Objectives: This study aims to show whether correlation exists between pediatric residency applicants' quantitative scores on the United States Medical Licensing Exam Step 2 Clinical Knowledge examination and their subsequent performance in residency training based on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Milestones, which are competency-based assessments that aim to determine residents' ability to work unsupervised after postgraduate training. No previous literature has correlated Step 2 Clinical Knowledge scores with pediatric residency performance assessed by Milestones.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, the United States Medical Licensing Exam Step 2 Clinical Knowledge Scores and Milestones data were collected from all 188 residents enrolled in a single categorical pediatric residency program from 2012 - 2017.

National Pediatrician-Scientist Collaborative Workgroup comment on new ACGME requirements' impact on pediatric physician-scientists.

Background: The ACGME recently released its recommendation for updates to the program requirements for pediatrics. These updates proposed changes to allocation of resident clinical time and a greater emphasis on individualization. The potential impact of these changes on the training of physician-scientists is discussed.

Outcomes in Pediatric Central Line-associated Bloodstream Infections Treated With Antimicrobial Locks: A 14-Year Retrospective Analysis.

Background: Central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) are the most common healthcare-associated infection in children. Antimicrobial lock therapy (ALT) is a recommended component of CLABSI treatment; however, studies characterizing pediatric ALT-based CLABSI therapy are few.

Methods: All CLABSI treated with ALT at a single tertiary-care pediatric hospital for years 2004-2018 were identified by retrospective chart review and demographic, clinical, microbiological and pharmacy data were extracted.
