The Microbiology Society Education and Outreach Symposium serves as a platform for microbiology educators to share contemporary practices with an international audience. The Symposium is held yearly during the Microbiology Society's Annual Conference and has become increasingly popular among conference attendees. In an effort to create an inclusive and engaging environment, the 2024 Symposium included contributions from participants at all career stages and from diverse global regions through a variety of presentation formats, including invited talks, offered presentations, flash talks and posters.

Large amounts of high-quality resting state data are required to investigate these individual differences, but are difficult to obtain in early infancy. Using the template matching method, we generated a set of infant network templates to use as priors for individualized functional resting-state network mapping in two independent neonatal datasets with extended acquisition of resting-state functional MRI (fMRI) data.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives: There is a high, unmet sleep need in young people with mental health difficulties. We took a whole-system approach to improving access to sleep support across a youth mental health system (14-25 years).
Methods: We used the Exploration, Preparation, Implementation and Sustainment (EPIS) framework to develop an implementation programme (The Better Sleep Programme) incorporating two levels of training: (i) therapeutic practitioners received training and supervision in CBT for insomnia (CBTi) adapted for young people with mental health difficulties, (ii) non-therapeutic practitioners received knowledge and skills workshops.
Inbred mice used for biomedical research display an underdeveloped immune system compared with adult humans, which is attributed in part to the artificial laboratory environment. Despite representing a central component of adaptive immunity, the impact of the laboratory environment on the B cell compartment has not been investigated in detail. Here, we performed an in-depth examination of B cells following rewilding, the controlled release of inbred laboratory mice into an outdoor enclosure.
