Identification of peptides presented by HLA class I molecules on cervical cancer cells with HPV-18 infection.

In this work we eluted peptides from purified class I MHC molecules, isolated from a novel human cervical carcinoma cell line (INBL), generated in our laboratory and positive for HPV-18 infection. A fraction of these peptides was capable of stimulating T lymphocytes obtained from a donor matched for HLA-Cw4 and who was also HPV-18+. Direct N-terminal Edman degradation of these peptides, revealed the sequence (XQFPIFLQF) that matched 85% with the sequence NVFPIFLQM localized in between the 54 and 62 residues of the HPV-18 L1 protein.

[Perspectives on cholera vaccines].

Perspectives of cholera vaccines with emphasis in their possible usage in Latin American countries are discussed. Microbiology, antigenicity, relevant aspects of traditional serology, protective immune responses and epidemiological data up to December, 1991, are presented. Indications of parenteral vaccines are discussed.

[Regional vaccine systems for Latin America].

This paper discusses the conditions that force the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean to design and produce vaccines for the most common infectious diseases in the Region on a regional basis. The authors discuss as well the goals and strategies of the Regional System for the Production of Vaccines in Latin America, its possible structure and economic feasibility.

Efficacy of zymodemes of E. histolytica technique in an epidemiologic study and report of new zymodemes in Mexico.

Objectives: To determine the efficacy of zymodemes of E. histolytica technique in an epidemiologic study. To report the zymodemes for the first time described in Mexico.

Pathogenic and non-pathogenic zymodemes of Entamoeba histolytica in a rural area of Mexico. Concordance with serology.

Objectives: a) to describe the frequency of pathogenic and nonpathogenic zymodemes of E. histolytica in asymptomatic carriers in rural Mexico, b) to identify the isoenzymatic pattern of the zymodemes and c) to measure the concordance of pathogenic zymodemes and positive serology.

Design: Descriptive cross-sectional survey.
