Cognitive function in DMD carriers: personal case series and literature review.

Improvement in clinical conditions allowed physicians to pay more attention to the cognitive function in DMD patients, leading to description of a cognitive impairment not only in affected males, but in female carriers as well. This study aimed to investigate the cognitive involvement in a cohort of DMD carriers and to summarize the current knowledge about the intellectual involvement and neuropsychological profile in DMD/BMD carriers. Our case series consisted of 22 carrier patients from two different centers (IRCCS Mondino, Pavia and Policlinico Gemelli, Rome), for whom we retrospectively collected cognitive, clinical and genetic data.

A Comparison of Two Hybrid Closed-Loop Systems in Italian Children and Adults With Type 1 Diabetes.

Tandem Control-IQ and Minimed 780G represent the most Advanced Hybrid Closed Loop (AHCL) systems currently available in pediatric and adult subjects with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). We retrospectively compared clinical and continuous glucose monitoring data from 51 patients who upgraded to Minimed 780G system and have completed 1-month observation period with data from 39 patients who upgraded to Tandem Control-IQ. Inverse probability weighting was used to minimize the basal characteristics imbalances.

Endoscopic treatment of colorectal benign-appearing lesions 3 cm or larger: techniques and outcome.

Purpose: Colonoscopic polypectomy is the preferred technique to remove the majority of polyps. The authors evaluate feasibility, safety, and the effectiveness of endoscopic treatment of colorectal benign-appearing polyps equal to or larger than 3 cm.

Methods: Ninety-seven patients with 104 giant polyps underwent polypectomy within a nine-year period.

Aortic graft in the jejunum without bleeding. A real surprise at endoscopy.

It is known that prosthetic infection, graft-duodenal fistula, and erosion are possible late complications after aortic reconstruction, and that all these reported complications are accompanied generally by variable bleeding with different presentations. We report the case of a 63-year-old man who underwent a diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for investigation of nausea, anorexia, asthenia, fever, and mild leukocytosis. The patient's medical history included a gastric resection for ulcer, with Billroth II gastrojejunostomy reconstruction and implantation of a Dacron vascular graft for abdominal aortic aneurysm 20 years and 3 years earlier, respectively.

Large hyperplastic polyps of the colon.

Hyperplastic polyps are the most frequent nonneoplastic lesions of the colon. Typically, they are small sessile polyps (5 mm) located in the rectosigmoid area. Recently, they have been identified as markers of neoplastic polyps.
