[Extensive transfixing skin necrosis after breast biopsy under local anesthesia: About four cases].

Introduction: Local anesthetics with adrenaline are widely used in routine practice and have long proven their benefits and safety. The rare complications due to their use mainly concern immuno-allergic and vascular mechanisms.

Description: In this article, we present four similar cases of early transfixing skin necrosis occurring after radioguided breast biopsy under local anesthesia using epinephrine local anesthetics in the context of a diagnostic approach to breast cancer.

Identification of patients with ductal carcinoma in situ at high risk of postoperative upstaging: A comprehensive review and an external (un)validation of predictive models developed.

Background: Between 8% and 56% of pure ductal carcinoma in situ are upstaged to microinvasive or invasive carcinoma on definitive pathological examination. The first objective of this study was to perform a comprehensive review of the literature on factors associated with increased risk of pre-operative underestimation. The second objective was to perform an external validation of the predictive models developed to enable their use in daily practice if relevant.

Background: The identification of factors responsible for false negative (FN) rate at F- Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) Positron Emission Tomography /Computed Tomography (PET/CT) in para-aortic (PA) lymph nodes in the presurgical staging of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) is challenging. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of PET/CT technology.

Methods: A total of 240 consecutive patients with LACC (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics, FIGO, stage IB2-IVA) and negative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and/or Computed Tomography (CT) and negative F-FDG PET/CT in the PA region, undergoing laparoscopic PA lymphadenectomy before chemoradiotherapy were included.
