Background: Right ventricular (RV) dysfunction has been shown to be a major contributor to the adverse outcomes in subjects with heart failure. Few studies evaluating the right ventricle in heart failure subjectshave been carried out in Sub-Saharan Africa. This studywas therefore designed to evaluate the right ventricular systolic function in subjects with heart failure secondary to hypertensive heart disease presenting to the University College Hospital, Ibadan Nigeria.

Management of carotid body tumor in pediatric patients: A case report and review of the literature.

Carotid body tumors (CBTs) are rare types of extra-adrenal paragangliomas, which originate from the neuroendocrine cells of the adventitial layer of carotid bifurcation. An 8-year-old girl was admitted to our department with left-sided and pulsating neck swelling, which progressively grew over several months. The patient had no family history of CBTs.

Measurement of capillary fragility: a useful tool to differentiate lipedema from obesity?

Lipedema is a disproportional obesity featuring spontaneous or light pressure-induce pain and frequent hematoma formation due to even minor traumatic injuries.
