Two adducts of Eu(III) tris-hexofluoroacetylacetonate with HMPA (OP(N(CH)), hexamethylphosphotriamide) and TPPO (OP(CH), triphenylphosphine oxide) were studied by optical spectroscopy and quantum chemistry (DFT/TD-DFT). The structure of the higher occupied molecular orbitals (MO) of the two adducts determines differences in the position of the excitation band maximum of hfac ligands. According to the calculation data, all excited states are caused by the transition to 3 vacant π* MOs of hfac ligands.

Adducts of tris-nitrates of rare-earth elements Ce(III), Nd(III), Eu(III), and Er(III) with two molecules of 1,10-phenanthroline with formula Ln(NO)(Phen) are studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and quantum chemistry (DFT/TDDFT). The geometric structure for DFT modeling is build using X-ray diffraction data. To analyze the composition and differences of the electronic structure in the series under study, XPS spectra were obtained for which interpretation was performed using calculated data.

The purpose of the work was to assess the influence of the concentrate of red table wine Saperavi on the cultivated nerve cells exposed to glutamate. The selection of Saperavi as the source of phenolic compounds was not accidental: this type of grapes in the Krasnodar region has the highest content of them - up to 4-5 g/dm3 and more. Polyphenol concentrate was prepared by pre-distillation of ethanol using vacuum, evaporation of red table wine with a rotary vaporizer, with the subsequent lyophilic drying.

We present, to the best of our knowledge, the first experimental demonstration of a new imaging system for in situ measurement of the two-dimensional (2D) distribution of the surface temperature of microscopic specimens. The main component of the system is an imaging tandem acousto-optical tunable filter (TAOTF) synchronized with a video camera. A set of TAOTF spectroscopic images (up to a few hundreds) is taken by the TAOTF imaging system to fit the measured spectral curves in each pixel to the Planck radiation function and determine the temperature and emissivity of the sample using the gray body approximation.

We demonstrated an increase in glutamate neurocytotoxicity in cultured cerebellar cells from rat pups subjected to lead poisoning during the prenatal development or early lactation period. The toxic effect of glutamate was weaker, if lead was applied in combination with antioxidant comenic acid. These data are discussed in view of practical use of comenic acid for the therapy of the brain tissues subjected to lead poisoning.
