The present study was designed to examine the vagus nerve system, atrioventricular ganglion, and changes in cardiomyocytes in 45 cases of the fatal outcome of the disease among 20 patients who suffered a craniovertebral injury and 25 ones presenting with acute coronary insufficiency. Special attention was given to the central and peripheral parts of the vagus nerve system. The study revealed lesions in the jugular ganglia and their association with the previous craniovertebral injuries accompanied by hemorrhage in these ganglia, nerve trunks, and soft tissues of the jugular foramina.

The comparative characterization of the level of development of some reproductive qualities of sows of three breeds from five breeding herds of the southern regions of Ukraine was performed in relation to peculiarities of genotypes with respect to some genetic systems of blood groups and serum proteins. Its results favor the complex approach for predicting animal productivity on the basis of data of immunogenetic analysis.

Breeding of pigs in a closed herd during three generations under industrial complex conditions does not essentially increase the number of animals with homozygous genotypes of polymorphic systems of blood groups. One of the possible causes of this phenomenon is selection favourable to animals with a higher heterozygosity.
