We studied the effects of some aniline and dioxaborininopyridine derivatives on the rate of oxidative deamination of putrescine and polyamines in a tissue with high mitotic index. These effects were evaluated quantitatively by measuring diamine oxidase and polyamine oxidase activities in a model cell-free test system of regenerating rat liver tissue. Aniline derivatives exhibited mainly antiproliferative effects and promoted oxidative degradation of putrescine, spermidine, and spermine.

For the development of methods of additional differential diagnostics of gliomas of various grades of malignancy and gliomas and local inflammatory processes in the CNS we studied the intensity of aggregation of peripheral blood cells under the influence of channel blockers ketamine and verapamil. In in vitro experiments, verapamil and ketamine in various dilutions (from 10 to 100,000 times) were added to blood samples and the effects of these dilutions on the intensity of blood aggregation in patients with gliomas of different degree of malignancy, traumatic brain injuries, and other types of neurosurgical pathologies were studied. A correlation was revealed between the decrease in surface charge of blood cells and the type of neurosurgical pathology.

Thymic serum activity (TSA) has been studied in 52 healthy subjects, 48 rheumatoid arthritis patients and 17 sufferers with systemic lupus erythematosus aged from 18 to 70. TSA was compared in patients under and over 40 years. In those under 40 TSA appeared significantly inhibited, while in older subjects it did not differ from age-matched control.

In view of the fact that therapy of affective psychoses with the combination of lithium carbonate with carbamazepine has been becoming ever common, the question arises about the influence of carbamazepine on plasma lithium concentration. On the material of 125 blood samples by using the method of dispersion analysis it was shown that carbamazepine exerts no effect on this parameter. Therefore when carbamazepine is added to lithium therapy it is not advisable to decrease lithium dose as it can result in a reduction of the therapeutic effect.

A study was made of 755 remissions in 171 patients suffering from affective psychoses. It has been established that distributions of the duration of complete remissions designed according to small (week and two-week) intervals are of periodic nature. This attests to rhythmical fluctuations of the risk of a relapse.
